Spinal Decompression & Disc Recovery
Conservative spinal decompression to calm disc and joint irritation, reduce nerve pressure patterns, and restore comfortable motion.

- People with back or neck pain that feels “stuck,” compressed, or easily irritated by sitting, standing, or bending
- Leg or arm symptoms that may follow a nerve pattern (radiation, tingling, heaviness, or weakness sensations)
- Disc related presentations where reducing pressure and restoring motion may be helpful (bulge/protrusion/herniation)
- Spinal stenosis type complaints where walking/standing tolerance is limited
- Facet joint and stiffness patterns where extension, prolonged posture, or morning stiffness is a driver
- Comprehensive disc screening with symptom mapping, tolerance testing, and baseline measures. We begin with a focused history and exam to identify your pain driver, rule out red flags, and determine if decompression is appropriate.
- Care feels controlled and highly specific, with Cox Chiropractic flexion-distraction (flexion/extension/distraction) as the primary protocol to reduce sensitivity, decompress irritated tissues, and restore usable motion.

What’s the difference between Cox Chiropractic flexion distraction and machine traction?—
Cox Chiropractic flexion distraction style decompression is clinician guided and segment specific, meaning the force and motion can be adjusted in real time based on your response. Machine traction is typically a preset pull; it can be helpful for some people, but it’s less adaptable.
Is this a good fit for sciatica or pain traveling down the arm or leg?—
It can be, depending on what your exam shows. We screen for nerve pattern findings and use positions and controlled decompression to reduce irritation.
Do I need an MRI before starting?—
Not always. If you already have imaging, we use it as context. If imaging would materially change decision making or safety, we’ll explain exactly why and help you coordinate the next phase.
What does a session feel like?—
Most patients describe it as gentle and controlled, with the goal of reducing pressure and restoring motion without forcing the spine. We keep it comfort first and adjust immediately if anything aggravates symptoms.
How many visits does it take?—
That depends on the driver and how reactive the tissue is. We set short re check windows early, so you’re not committing blindly; if we don’t see meaningful change, we pivot the plan or recommend the next appropriate step.
Is decompression safe for everyone?—
Safety starts with screening. Certain presentations (for example, significant instability, fracture risk, severe neurologic changes, or other red flags) may require a different plan or medical clearance.
